With « I PECCATI », the eponymous catalog of the exhibition showed at l’Académie de France à Rome – Villa Médicis, Johan Creten orchestrate a composition of his iconic works.
Thought in collaboration with Noëlle Tissier, curator of the exhibition, « I PECCATI » gathers for the first time with such an extende in Italy an ensemble of 55 artworks showing the artist's sensitivity to the deep transformations of society and to a social awareness more scattered than ever. NExt to his bronze, ceramic and resin artworks, the artist presents a selection of historical pieces from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries from his personal collection.
Separated in 12 sections revealing 12 sacrilegious and impure wounds, « I PECCATI » book shows the abysses of a prolific and proteiform creation, fed of historical references, hidden connections and intellectual and artistic surprises.
Each part, placed under the ambivalent symbol and a duel of a subjective and imperfect morality, is introduced by a text by Colin Lemoine questionning the relation of Human to sin, between adoration and blasphemy.
